Five years of green efforts have effectively restored the ecological system in Helan Mountain in northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
As a key protective shield against desertification in northwest China, Helan Mountain once suffered from grave ecological and environmental problems brought by excessive mining.
In 2017, Ningxia started a campaign to restore the eco-system of Helan Mountain.
The regional government also plans to plant 12,000 mu (800 hectares) of trees in 2022.
