Chinese authorities have issued a document calling for strict supervision of the local Communist Party of China (CPC) committees' election of their new leadership to ensure discipline and due process.

The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, the CPC Central Committee Organization Department, and the National Supervisory Commission, jointly issued the document, which was made public Tuesday, saying that forming cliques to seek personal interests, vote canvassing and buying, bribery and lobbying for official posts are strictly prohibited in the election.

It noted that officials are not allowed to skip Party organization's collective discussion and decide on personnel issues on their own. It also warned them against using personal connections to meddle in other organizations' work in official nomination, promotion and appointment.

Undue leak of relevant information, fabricating personnel documents and other unfair manipulation in the process are also prohibited.

Moreover, the document calls for efforts to guard against obstruction from domestic and overseas hostile forces, gang-related forces and influence from certain families or religious circles.

The document urged strict supervision and investigation to maintain a tough position on cracking down on violations.

Local CPC committees are scheduled to start electing their new leadership this year. Enditem
