Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with 5G communication-related firms registering the biggest rises. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went down 0.04 percent to close at 2,574.68, while the Shenzhen Component Index gained 0.25 percent to finish at 7,635.16. Combined turnover on the two bourses edged down to 251 billion yuan (about 51.7 billion U.S. dollars) from the previous trading day. Companies in 5G communications were Tuesday's biggest winners as the upcoming nationwide pilot commercial deployment of VoLTE services sent share prices on the rise. Communication network service provider Guangdong Eastone Century Technology Co. Ltd. saw its shares jump by the daily maximum of 10 percent, a performance echoed in the digitization sector. Companies related to pork and bio-vaccine sectors were among the biggest losers, as the country brought outbreaks of African swine fever under control and cracked down on illicit vaccine producers. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board, gained 0.83 percent to close at 1,315.43. |
