　　常言道“话不投机半句多”，聊着聊着气氛陷入冰点，要是再碰上一个不会聊天的小伙伴，简直分分钟就可以让人无话可说。这种聊不下去的style英文都能怎么形容呢？

　　1. Not be on speaking terms

　　英文中on one's terms一般指“根据某人的主张或条件”，如此说来，这个“不合说话条件”的短语则指的是拒绝和某人说话，通常因为生气。

　　例：They had an argument last night and now they're not on speaking terms (with each other).

　　他们昨晚争吵了一番，现在谁都不跟谁说话了。

　　2. Save one's breath

　　说话时间长了最是费气力，省点儿气息，也就是别白费力气，浪费唇舌。

　　例：I don't know why I even try to talk to him - I might as well save my breath.
