BEIJING -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday called "one country, two systems" the best institutional arrangement for Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.

Xi, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, visited an exhibition at the National Museum in Beijing profiling the achievements made in Hong Kong since its return to the motherland in 1997.

DALIAN -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said on Tuesday China is fully capable of delivering major growth targets of this year, thanks to steady economic transition.

The Chinese economy has become more stable and sustainable due to improvements in structure and efficiency, Li said when addressing the opening of the Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2017, or Summer Davos, in Dalian.

BEIJING -- China's next generation bullet train, "Fuxing," ran for the first time on the Beijing-Shanghai line on Monday.

CR400AF departed Beijing South Station at 11:05 a.m. for Shanghai, while, at exactly the same time, CR400BF left Shanghai Hongqiao Station bound for Beijing.

MAOXIAN, Sichuan -- The ruins of a massive landslide site in southwest China was hit by minor secondary slides Tuesday morning, local rescue authorities said.

The slides occurred at around 11 a.m. Tuesday in the flattened village of Xinmo, Maoxian County, Sichuan Province. Rocks and mud measuring about 100 cubic meters fell. But no injuries were reported as the area was cordoned off following a landslide warning issued Monday.

BEIJING -- China urges India to immediately withdraw its border guards that have crossed the boundary and have a thorough investigation of this matter, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Monday night.

According to spokesperson Geng Shuang, Indian border guards crossed the boundary in the Sikkim section of the China-India border and entered the territory of China, and obstructed normal activities of Chinese frontier forces in the Donglang area recently, and the Chinese side has taken counter-measures.
