[File photo: Global Times] The health records of citizens living in the northwestern part of Shanghai are to be linked to the city's emergency rescue system by next year, reports thepaper.cn. It's seen as an important step towards the establishment of "pre-hospital emergency treatments" in Shanghai, which should improve the overall success of emergency treatments, according to the report. On Tuesday, Tongji Hospital in Shanghai's Putuo District and the Shanghai Medical Emergency Center announced that they would be working together to build a smart system for emergency treatments. "The system will mainly rely on a digital internet information platform that enables the sharing of health information about patients between emergency personnel and the doctors in the hospital. In this way, the hospital will be better prepared for emergency treatments before the patients were delivered there." said Cheng Liming, head of Tongji Hospital. At the junction of 4 districts, the northwestern part of Shanghai has relatively limited medical resources than other areas. And Tongji Hospital, the only major hospital in the area, is under great pressure to provide emergency treatments, added Cheng. This kind of pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency treatments combination has been successfully implemented in some developed countries, thepaper.cn reports. Zhu Qinzhong, head of the Shanghai Medical Emergency Center, said the practice could be replicated in other areas in Shanghai in the future and the authorities in Shanghai will add more citizens to the system. |
