A 92-year-old man being treated in an Intensive Care Unit(ICU) because of heart disease was able to hold hands with his 95-year-old wife, who was in hospital too due to a femoral fracture.

It's reported that the two had not previously been able to see each other despite being treated in the same hospital. The man had given up treatment and expressed his desire to see his wife before he left the hospital, fearing it may be the last time for him to see her.

When the man's wife was brought to the ICU and held her husband's hand, the moment was captured in a photograph which was shared online. The moment has touched the hearts of many, and has gone viral.

"They are hand in hand tightly, with eyes watered. The grandpa said that he would have no time to take care of his wife anymore. The grandma told him to be at ease and said she wants to be with the grandpa in her next life." said Wang Yanfang, head nurse in the ICU of Yinzhou People's Hospital of Ningbo.

The man left the hospital that very day after seeing his wife. But his wife insisted on accompanying him through his last moments, and was sent home to be with him. But, sadly, she didn't make it to his side in time. He died twenty minutes before she arrived home, reports the Beijing Morning Post.
