An orchestral flash mob, playing Chinese musical favourites, has surprised travelers at Hong Kong International Airport, reports thepaper.cn.

The musicians were from the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Hong Kong (MYO), which is regarded as one of the finest youth orchestras in Asia.

They played five popular pieces including "Pearl of the Orient", which was composed and sung in 1991 by the Taiwan musician Tayu Lo, and also "A man should stand strong" by the Hong Kong singer George Lam.

The songs are held dear by the Chinese people, showing love for Hong Kong and pride in being a Chinese. The lyrics of "Pearl of the Orient" read "Pearl of the orient, my love; do not forget my unchangeable yellow face."

"This is the attitude and life that Hong Kong youth should embrace." said one netizen named Zhuotangsongmingqing on China's Twitter-like micro-blogging site, Sina Weibo.

Another netizen shared video of the musicians, adding that the performance brought tears to her eyes.

The MYO is no stranger to flash mob performances. In early 2014, they surprised shoppers at the Pacific Place Mall with a dazzling music performance.
