Thepaper.cn reports the attacks took place in March this year. The man, surnamed Zhang, was found lying in the street by a tea shop owner in the Conghua District of Guangzhou. Zhang started to beat the shopkeeper on the head and he was forced to run away. Three police officers called to the scene were also attacked. One received head injuries. Another suffered scratch wounds to his face. The third was bitten on the head. All three also suffered slight body injuries. Zhang told the local court that he had drunk half a liter of foreign wine. He expressed regret at causing the injuries, apologized and made compensation. Those injured expressed a willingness to forgive Zhang. The court said that Zhang had committed the crime of endangering public affairs, and was sentenced to ten months in prison but was released on probation. The judge said Zhang's probation would be revoked if he was found drinking alcohol more than three times, or if he was involved in any trouble.
