[File Photo: Xinhua] Beijing plans to build more charging posts to meet the demand of about 600,000 electric cars by 2020. According to a new document released by the municipal authority, locations in Beijing will be no more than five kilometers from a charging post once the network of charging facilities is completed. In downtown areas, electric car drivers will be able to find at least one charging post within one kilometer. By the end of 2015, there were nearly 40,000 electric cars running in Beijing. It is estimated that the number of electric cars in the Chinese capital will reach 600,000 in five years, among which 450,000 are private cars. So far Beijing has built around 5,000 public charging posts and 12,000 private ones. 435,000 more charging posts will be built in the next five years, according to the new document released on Thursday.
