[Photo: CRIENGLISH.com] A public energy exploration and production firm has announced it would supply oil and gas to China from 3 countries in the coming year. Skyland Petroleum Limited says it plans to acquire partial stakes in several large oil and gas fields in East Siberia in Russia. The oil and gas will be transported to China through the "Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean" oil pipeline and the "Power of Siberia" gas pipeline. Apart from Russia, the company will also supply China with oil from its facilities in Tajikistan and Georgia. Experts believe that enhanced cooperation in the energy field will diversify China's imports of oil and gas, and introduce competition to avoid monopoly and consequently lower energy prices. They also suggest that, in addition to Russia, Central and West Asia could obtain much needed funds for their local economies through intensifying energy development with East Asia. Skyland Petroleum has significant oil and gas assets in countries and regions along the China initiated Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, economic co-operation project.
