Chinese premier Li Keqiang has held a welcome ceremony for the visiting Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in Beijing on Thursday.

The two leaders have agreed to further cooperation in areas including new energy and e-commerce. They will also witness the signing of a number of deals on innovation, tourism, industrial parks and mining.

A group of some 1,000 delegates from Australia are accompanying Turnbull on this visit.

The Australian Prime Minister will meet with Chinese president Xi Jinping.

Beijing is Turnbull's second stop in China. He is on an official visit here in China from Thursday to Friday.

This is Turnbull's first visit to China since taking office in September last year.
