Chinese leaders have extended condolences to Pakistan over a terrorist attack in Lahore that killed more than 70 people. In his message to his Pakistani counterpart Mamnoon Hussain, President Xi Jinping said China strongly condemned the terrorist attack that has caused heavy casualties. He said Pakistan had the staunch support of China in its efforts to combat terrorism, safeguard its stability and ensure the safety of its people. Premier Li Keqiang has also sent a message to Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, extending profound condolences to the victims and their families. A suicide bombing rocked a public park in Lahore on Sunday evening, leaving at least 72 dead and some 300 injured. A Pakistani Taliban splinter group has claimed responsibility for the attack. |
