[File Photo: mod.gov.cn] The Chinese government is expressing concerns over plans the US military plans to base long-range bombers in Australia. At issue are concerns the placement of US bombers in Australia could be within striking distance of the South China Sea. In addressing the concerns, the Chinese Foreign Ministry says any bilateral cooperation between the US and Australia should not harm the interests of a third party. Discussions are underway between US and Australian authorities on the temporary placement of B-1 bombers and aerial tankers at airfields in northern Australia.
