Chinese oil refiner Sinopec is moving to try to clarify reports that its bringing nearly 40 percent of staff in its global unit back to China.

The company has confirmed its recalling 263 of its Chinese staff from its global exploration and production units.

However, Sinopec insists the recall, which would represent 37-percent of its foreign division, is part of its regular job rotations.

The company hasn't said whether or not other Chinese workers will be sent back to replace them.
