More than 30 mothers holding their babies took part in a breast feeding activity Sunday in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong province. In total, 38 mothers were feeding their babies on the spot, donating 1.32 liters breast milk. This is the third time that the public breast feeding benefit activity has been held in Guangzhou. Currently, the rate of women breast feeding is decreasing, greatly influenced by the advertisement of milk powder. However, information has shown that breast feeding is not only good for babies but also for mothers looking to slim down since the feeding can consume 500 calories. Since the establishment of this benefit group in May, 2013, more than 800 mothers both from home and abroad have become breast milk donors. Since July 18, 2015, 635 liters of breast milk have been donated by 557 mothers, curing 142 children with serious illness for free. |
