A video of a young man and a young woman having sex, allegedly to have taken place in a Uniqlo store in the popular shopping area Sanlitun in downtown Beijing, was uploaded by an unknown source to social networks last night.

Many web users in their comments speculated that Uniqlo uploaded the sex tape as a marketing gimmick.

Some people have noticed that Uniqlo, the retail giant headquartered in Japan, has once initiated a joint scheme with JD.com, China's largest online direct sales company, to launch 4D online fitting room service, but failed to grasp attention from the public. Now, the two are allegedly said to have been preparing a second try on the scheme, when the video has been coincidentally released.

This morning Uniqlo strongly denied the allegation by releasing a statement, saying it had reported the incident to the websites involved.

"We would like to remind the public to uphold social morality and use our fitting rooms in a correct and proper way," Uniqlo said in the statement, "We also firmly deny some online allegations saying the video is our marketing gimmick."

Uniqlo's claim that it does not use obscene videos for economic gains makes sense to another group of people, who believe that the video would do no good to either Uniqlo or the two being videotaped.

The video, posted online during midnight, was quickly deleted hours after. The two in the video have removed their information from social media shortly after the incident. The identity of the person or persons who first posted the video remains unknown.

Yi Nengjing, a famous actress in China, suggested that the young woman in the video call the police and defend herself.
