[Photo: nntv.cn] Chinese people have grown taller and stronger between 2002 and 2012, according to a health survey report released by China's State Council. The average height and weight of Chinese people have risen over the ten-year period. The average height and weight of a Chinese adult male was 167.1 centimeters and 66.2 kilograms, and the figures stand at 155.8 centimeters and 57.3 kilograms for women by 2012, both higher than the figures recorded in 2002. The increase in height and weight among children and adolescents between the ages of 6 to 17 living in rural areas exceeds that of children in the same group from urban areas. The height and weight are the figures that are frequently referred to when evaluating the nutritional condition and physical growth of children. China conducted its first public nutrition and health survey in 2002. The latest report is based on a one and a half year analysis on the data that was collected after the first report.
