New stats from Chinese auditors are suggesting officials misappropriated over 780-billion yuan over a 6-year period from 2008 to 2013 originally earmarked for land transfers.

The head of the National Audit Office says they've found that officials often moved the money to either fill gaps in their budget, lend the money to other government agencies or used it to help build new offices.

More than 22-hundred government officials have been investigated for their alleged involvement in major fiscal fraud.

The audit office says the violations have involved government departments which deal with departments which administer state assets and state-owned resource firms, such as land and mining.
