The Chinese government is pledging 3-billion yuan in assistance for Nepal's reconstruction.

The pledge of 3-billion yuan, or just under 500-million US dollars, has been made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi at an international donors conference on Nepal's reconstruction in Nepal's capital, Kathmandu.

In making the pledge, Wang Yi also says local governments in China will also be providing assistance in Nepal's reconstruction.

Representatives from more than 60 countries and international agencies have attended the event.

Nepalese authorities estimate they will needed around 7-billion US dollars to rebuild the country, which was rattled in late April and early May by a series of earthquakes which left around 87-hundred dead and billions of dollars in damage.
