More than 1,200 kilograms of drugs have been destroyed by local police at Guizhou Police Vocational College in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province, on June 23, 2015. All the drugs destroyed at the scene were seized in anti-drug campaigns launched by Guizhou's Public Security Bureau. The action coincides with the upcoming International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which lands on this coming Friday. Guizhou is located just above the "Golden Triangle," an area nestled in the mountain regions of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand that is one of Asia's two opium-producing epicenters. Guizhou's close proximity to the Golden Triangle has made the province vulnerable to drug trafficking and narcotics abuse. |
