The first self-service supermarkets popped up in Beijing and Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang province on Sunday. During the first day of trial operation period, some consumers took expensive products without paying, reports the Reference News.

Consumers are now able to buy products at the self-service convenience store near Jianguomen in Beijing via cash or scanning QR codes by alipay.

More than 30 people shopped at the store and most of them paid before they left, but three females took expensive products and left without paying. One customer left only 10 yuan (1.6 USD) for expensive cigarettes and wine.

Hu Tao manager of Credit Sesame, a personal credit rating agency said they hope to enhance people's awareness of credit by the activity.
