An amateur aircraft enthusiast in China has successfully conducted the ground run experiment of his self-made Delta wing aircraft at a local air-base in the city of Xuzhou in east China's Jiangsu Province, on Monday.

Although the aircraft didn't take off as the weather conditions were not ideal, Li Peng, the aircraft's owner, promised that it will take off in six months' time.

Li has spent at least 200 thousand yuan, or 32,240 US dollars, on the development of the aircraft during the past decade, although his monthly income is only 3000 yuan.
