The high court in Inner Mongolia on Monday upheld the death sentence with a two-year reprieve for a former Hohhot vice mayor.

Bo Liangen was convicted of accepting bribes of over 6 million U.S. dollars on Aug. 29, 2014 and negligence of duty.

The high court dismissed his appeal, saying the first trial was based on clear evidence and legal process.

Bo was found guilty of accepting bribes during vice mayor terms in Wuhai and Hohhot over a period of 15 years, starting in 1998.

The prosecutors said Bo also violated land grant regulations and caused substantial economic losses for the state.
