Senior officials of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) agreed Thursday on initiatives about the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific (FTAAP), connectivity and other issues.

They have decided to submit the initiatives about the realization of FTAAP, connectivity development, innovative development, economic reform and growth to the upcoming APEC Ministerial Meeting and Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM), said a statement issued after the two-day Concluding Senior Officials' Meeting (CSOM) of APEC 2014.

Senior officials from APEC members also adopted initiatives on anti-corruption, ocean cooperation, innovation-driven growth and women's participation in the economy, the statement said.

They have made "positive progress" about the outcome documents of the following meetings, it said.

"Member economies have expressed appreciation to the host for the solid political preparation and highly efficient and transparent organizational work and have expressed confidence in a successful AELM that will establish a new vision and inject new vigor for the long-term development of the Asia-Pacific," the statement said.

Presided over by Li Baodong, China's vice foreign minister and the 2014 APEC CSOM chair, the meeting was attended by senior officials and delegates from 21 APEC members, APEC Secretariat, the APEC Business Advisory Council and observers.

Following the CSOM, there will be the APEC Ministerial Meeting, APEC CEO Summit, APEC Business Advisory Council Dialogue with Leaders, and the 22nd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting scheduled on Nov. 10-11.
