A well-known founder of a vocational school is under probe for a family planning violation after it was alleged that he has six children, said local authorities on Tuesday.

An investigation team has contacted Rong Lanxiang, founder and president of Shandong Lanxiang Senior Technical School based in Jinan, capital of Shandong Province, said the health and family planning authorities in Tianqiao District of Jinan.

Rong, also a national lawmaker, is originally a farmer from central Henan province. He founded the Lanxiang school in 1984, which offers technical training courses in fields like auto repair, engineering, cooking and hairdressing.

Rong is in the spotlight after media reported a mass fight involving his school's students a month ago.

The school, one of the largest vocational schools in China, has trained more than 400,000 students, most of them from rural areas.
