The Chinese leading geographic information service provider Wuda Geoinformatics Co., Ltd (GeoStar) on Monday officially opened its Finnish branch in Espoo, a southern city next to the capital Helsinki.

The branch aims to look for Finnish customers and business partners to further develop its own technology.

“The first thought is to import Finnish information technology achievements to China, and combine them with the high speed development,” said Yifu Liu, CEO of GeoStar.

In the near future, GeoStar will focus on opportunities of cooperation in geographic information system and remote sensor industry, added Liu.

Enterprises in these two industries are relatively denser in Nordic countries than other areas in Europe, so that GeoStar chooses Finland as its first official European workplace, Liu told Xinhua.

According to Golden Bridge, a business matchmaker funded by the Finnish government, GeoStar can also act as a channel for Finnish companies which tend to enter the Chinese market.

Founded in 1999, GeoStar is a technology transfer company of Wuhan University. It provides services covering the whole life cycle of geographic information, including spatial data with fast acquisition and production, integration and management, as well as sharing and publishing.
