By Saturday when most of the temple fairs concluded, the 17 large temple fairs and other traditional cultural events had attracted 4.8 million visitors in total. The two most popular temple fairs at Temple of the Earth and Longtan Park welcomed 1.19 million and 871,800 visitors respectively. 銆€銆€“Low carbon travel” was what the Longtan Temple Fair called for this year. It received favorable responses from the visitors. Statistics showed that 82 percent of the visitors went there by public transportation, bicycles or walking. 銆€銆€With the rising awareness of environmental protection, the merchants and peddlers at the temple fair also used biodegradable meal boxes instead of the well-known thin plastic bags. The venue’s decorations were also reusable for future events. |
