     China's Lu Xiaojun broke the world record to win the Olympic gold medal in men's 77kg category weightlifting competition here on Wednesday.

    Lu lifted 175kg in snatch and 204kg in clean and jerk for a total of 379kg, beating her own world mark of 378kg.

    It was China's 16th gold medal at these Games.

    His compatriot Lu Hao Jie took silver with a total of 360kg.
