Twenty-seven year old Dunne came from Kansas, America. He graduated from Kansas University and has studied in China since 2010. Now he is studying in the Chinese department of Heilongjiang University.
Dunne is very fond of basketball. While studying in China, most of his free time is spent on the basketball court in the evening. After two years of playing basketball with amateur Chinese players, he gradually realized that the basketball game is different in the eyes of Chinese people. Dunne explained that Chinese learn to play basketball like Americans learn Chinese Kung Fu. It’s just superficial. Every time when Dunne played street basketball with Chinese, many people would say, “Wow, he runs so fast” or “his bounce is very good.” Dunne explained that when Americans play basketball they depend on footwork and not hands.
After two years, Dunne has met a lot of friends. He usually teaches his basketball skills to his friends. Dunne says, “The essential spirit of sport is to communicate with each other. Everything in the world needs communicating and exchanging.” When asked about his future life in China, Dunne expressed that he wants to open a basketball school if he has money. He will coach some children and will help develop Chinese basketball. |
