![]() 27-year-old Vanilla from Sweden came to China to learn about Chinese culture. Vanilla always dreamed of becoming a fairy tale and comic book writer since she was young. Vanilla has a lot of inspirations but publishers were not interested in this kind of romantic fairy tale. Why did nobody likes her work锛烿anilla was so confused. After a long observation, she thought her painting style was old-fashioned. Vanilla chose to study in China in order to break through her painting style after discussions with her parents. She said: “Chinese style has quietly swept the globe. Now in Sweden, many families have some articles about China. In my home, there’s a large Chinese knot.”
In China, Vanilla has seen many original cartoons like “Shout the sky”, “Cucumis” and so on. Vanilla smiled: “An idea occurred to me. If Snow White turned to be Son Goku, what would happen? Since Chinese style has gradually swept the world, the aesthetic standard of the Chinese would change that of the Europeans and Americans.” Vanilla began to create some cartoon characters to be fit for the Chinese aesthetic standard and started to write a cartoon book. Chinese elements are completely implanted in the book. She said: “My story is what foreigners see and hear in China, as many Swedish people don’t know what modern China is. This is what Swedish people need to know.”
