Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hong Lei said Thursday that China welcomes the Arab League (AL) observer mission to conduct objective investigations in Syria.

China hopes to see concerted efforts from all relevant sides in the substantial implementation of the observers protocol, so as to create conditions for the proper resolution of the Syrian crisis, Hong said at a press conference.

Hong made the remarks when asked to comment on reports that the first observer mission's chief, Mohammed Ahmed Mostafa al-Dabi, was satisfied with the team's work, as they are "working freely with authorities as stipulated in the protocol signed by the Syrian government."

According to a report by private news website Syria-Now, a new batch of Arab observers arrived in the Syrian capital of Damascus on Wednesday.
