Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Fu Ying held political consultations with State Secretary of German Foreign Ministry Emily Haber in Beijing on Friday, and both sides agreed to further boost bilateral relations. They exchanged views on China-Germany relations, China-Europe relations as well as other issues of common concern, said a press release from the Chinese Foreign Ministry. Fu told Haber that China attaches great importance to Germany's position and role in Europe. Under the current global situation, to deepen bilateral cooperation meets the fundamental interests of both countries and helps world peace and development, she added. Haber said the German government highly values its relations with China, and was satisfied with the progress of bilateral cooperation in various areas. She called on joint efforts from both sides to beef up substantial cooperation in such areas as trade, two-way investment and culture. Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun also met with Haber ahead of the consultations. The two countries' foreign ministries set up political consultation mechanism in October of 1988 with an aim to boost strategic consultation and political trust, and promote comprehensive development of China-Germany relations. |
