A nationwide, free-of-charge job hunting website was launched Friday by the Chinese authorities.

Sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MHRSS), the website -- www.cjob.gov.cn -- titled "China Job Bank," is designed as a nationwide employment information sharing platform for both employers and job seekers, according to Xin Changxing, vice minister of the MHRSS.

More than 10,000 employers signed up to the website on the first day, with over 60,000 posts. The number of job seekers registered has reached almost 500,000.

The present website is only a beta version and will later be upgraded, said Ming Hong, an official from the Department of Employment Promotion of the ministry.

Ming said the information will be strictly filtered and verified to ensure authenticity and quality of information.

The website has linked with human resources agencies in 25 provincial-level regions, and it is designed to cover the institutions in provincial and prefectural levels of all the provincial-level regions, except the Tibet Autonomous Region.
