Tommie (in blue in front row) “two boats are safer.”

25-year-old Tommie is from Santiago, USA. He studied in China in 2009 and is now a student in Heilongjiang University. Tommie was born in Santiago and liked rafting since he was a little boy. While studying in China, he heard there was a place called Yichun which is famous for rafting. After having known this, Tommie and his friends packed their bags and prepared to travel.

Tommie found it strange to see many friends take a plastic basin. Tommie was confused and asked: “Why aren’t there any places for washing your hands in the hotels of Yichun?” They smiled after hearing his question and didn’t give any answers.

When they came to the bank of the river, Tommie was a little disappointed, because he didn’t see his familiar turbulent river like he has in America. Tommie said disappointedly, “at the beginning, I wanted to go back, for me it is not rafting at all.”
