Recently, Taiwan Interactive Group which joined “2011 Heilongjiang Agriculture Meeting” reached a cooperation agreement with Beidahuang Agricultural Group Controlling Corporation on genetically modified soybeans from Heilongjiang Province. The parties concerned from Taiwan will come to Harbin to conclude and sign trading contracts in September this year.

The General Counsel from the mainland and Taiwan farmer innovation park of Taiwan Interactive Group, director of The World Vegetable Center, Ren Sunming expressed that Taiwan has 0.3 million tons of soybean demand every year. Most of them depended on imports. 95% of them came from genetically engineered soybeans of the United States. Now the Taiwan market still hasn't the genetically modified soybean that is produced by the mainland. Settling on Heilongjiang's genetically modified soybean, the main reason is the quality, price and transportation are better than the American import soybean. If it can purchase soybeans from Heilongjiang soybean, every ton of transportation cost will save $10 than American imports. During International soybean Festival this September, the parties concerned from Taiwan will come to Harbin to conclude and sign a trading contract.
