Wang Xiucheng was born in Liaoyang County in Liaoning Province in 1928 and die in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province in 2004. He was once a member of Chinese Artists Association, deputy-director of Harbin Artists Association, consultant of Harbin Traditional Chinese Painting Institute, vice-president of China Calligraphy and Painting Correspondence University, Heilongjiang Branch. He retired in November, 1990 and accepted the position of librarian in Heilongjiang Institute of Cultural and Historical Data Research in January, 1991. He had been an art teacher for more than fifty years. As the first dean and one of the founders of School of Fine Art, Harbin Normal University, he made great contribution in the establishment and development of School of Fine Art.
Magnum opus
He published a monograph The Selected Annotation of Chinese Artistic Theories of Different Dynasties as well as six theses. His works of traditional Chinese painting won gold, silver medals in art exhibitions both at home and abroad, including International Cultural Exchange Grand Award, for the characteristics of pleasant after-taste and rich imagination.
