He was born in Jinzhou of Liaoning Province in April, 1948, with a byname of Liu Huaishan. After graduating from the Art Department of Inner Mongolia Normal University in 1970, majoring of fine arts, he worked as the art design of Heilongjiang Fine Arts Publishing House. He is good at traditional Chinese painting.
