He was born in Youyan of Liaoning Province in March, 1932. After graduating from Northeast Normal Academy in 1956 with the major of traditional Chinese painting, he worked as a painter, editor in Heilongjiang Fine Arts Publishing House and associate-professor of Fine Arts Education Department of Harbin Normal University.
