People from all parts of China have been making donations to help the people in Yushu after a 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit the prefecture in northwest Qinghai Province early Wednesday morning.

The Chinese Red Cross Foundation (CRCF) has received 20.85 million yuan in donations and another 16.8 million yuan of promised funds as of 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Association of Taiwan Investment Enterprises on the Mainland has urged its members to go all-out to help compatriots in Yushu to overcome difficulties and rebuild their homes.

After the association made the call in a written proposal on Saturday, it has collected more than 6 million yuan.

The Lanzhou military command has forwarded 5 million yuan in quake-relief funds, which were donated by its officers and soldiers, to residents in the quake zone.

The military command has also sent quake-relief items to the quake-devastated region.

By Saturday morning, the China Association of Poverty Alleviation and Development had raised 5.08 million yuan in cash and relief supplies worth 4.07 million yuan for quake survivors.
