Defending champion Wang Bingyu put up outstanding performance Tuesday to lift Chinese women's curling team over Latvia 8-2, their first win at the ongoing world championships in Swift Current, Saskatchewan of Canada.

Wang, who last month led China to the third place at the Vancouver Winter Olympics, succeeded to shrug off an under-par form that brought China to a winless row in the first three matches, website Sohu.com reports.

After the match, China is placed 9th in the 12-member round-robin stage. Canada and the United States stand the top and the second.

China will next play with Canada, the only powerhouse unbeatable so far at the event, later on Tuesday.
