    In the first day of the short track speed skating at the 24th Winter Universiade in 2009, Zhou Yang won the women's 1500 meter short track speed skating gold medal. This was the first gold medal of the short track speed skating at this Winter Universiade and also the first gold medal of the Chinese delegation group.

    In 2008, she was the 3000 meter champion; 500 meter runner-up, 100 meter runner-up and second runner-up of the 3000 meter relay in the ISU short track speed skating World Championship.

    In 2007-2008, she was the champion of the 3000 meter relay in the ISU short track speed skating World Cup, China, Harbin. She was the champion of the 3000 meter relay in Japan station, second runner-up of the 1500 meters and champion of the 3000 meter relay in the Netherlands. She was champion of the 1000 meters and champion of the 3000 meter relay in Canada station, champion of the 3000 meter relay in Italy, and champion of the 1500 meter (with a new world record of 2鈥?7鈥?62) and runner-up of the 3000 meter relay in U.S.

    In 2006, she was 1500 meter champion, second runner-up of the 1000 meters and champion of the 2000 meter relay (with her partners Kang Luqian and Sun Linlin) at the Short Track Speed Skating World Youth Championship.

    In 2006-2007, she was champion of the 1000 meters at the National League Short Track Speed Skating Match, Changchun.

    In 2007, she was champion of the 3000 meter relay at the Changchun Asian Winter Games.
