At present, the base being built is nearing completion. It has investments of more than 50 billion yuan for Casting and Forging productions by China First Heavy Machinery Group of Qiqihar City in Heilongjiang Province. They have begun to undertake some important projects in the national large-scale Casting and Forging tasks which will be completed in 2010.

China First Heavy Machinery Group is a large-scale machinery and equipment manufacturing enterprise which produces rolled steel, metallurgy, forging, power stations, petrochemical and other heavy equipment in mainland China. It undertook China's first AP1000 reactor-type nuclear power plant forgings requiring development work since 2006. It also began large-scale advanced pressurized water reactors for nuclear power plants.
According to Mark, China First Heavy Machinery Group will be re-building a world-class casting and forging steel base and it will be completed by the year 2010. By then, China is expected to produce heavy steel of about 500,000 tons, with an annual output of forging at 240000-250000 tons and an annual output of forging and casting steel parts at 60000-70000 tons. Its production capacity will reach 7654 world-class manufacturing objectives. The company will be provided with 700 tons of molten steel, create the largest 600 ton steel ingot and the largest 500 ton castings along with the largest 400 ton forgings. The core cast will not lag behind in forging technology and the tonnage grade production will be number one in the world.
