Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province has posted cash rewards for information on terrorism-related crimes as part of a crackdown launched in the wake of a deadly terrorist attack in March.

Yunnan police mounted a one-year crackdown on terrorist activities on Wednesday, saying they will "fully motivate and rely on the public" and encourage citizens to report on terrorist crimes.

Rewards ranging from 5,000 to 200,000 yuan (800 to 32,000 U.S. dollars) will be given to anyone whose clues help police crack cases involving organizing or orchestrating terrorist activities, raising funds or purchasing guns, explosives for that purpose, as well as transporting, hiding or aiding terrorists, police said.

On March 1, a group of knife-wielding assailants slashed frantically at crowds at a train station in Kunming, capital of Yunnan, killing 29 civilians and injuring 143.
