上周日举行了2014年度的“国考”，本次招录公务员(微博)的岗位总数为1.9万个，是近三年来国考招录人数首次出现下降。招录人数少了，但依然抵挡不住广大“考碗族”的热情。现在除了公务员，国企和事业单位也是考生的就业首选。

他说：“国家公务员考试是一个就业选择，但不是我唯一的就业选择。”他补充道他还会寻找国企和事业单位的工作机会。

Public institution就是“事业单位”。

除了public servant(公务员)这个金饭碗，SOE(国企)和事业单位也是求职者的首选。

公务员意味着stability(稳定)、high social status(较高的社会地位)、decent pay(可观的收入)和good social welfare(良好的福利待遇)。

事业单位一般收入不高，但比较稳定。

今年的tough employment situation(严峻的就业形势)又把求职者们推上了national civil service exam(国家公务员考试)这座独木桥。

公务员考试分为administrative professional ability test(行政能力测试)和argumentative essay writing(申论)两部分。

当前政府正努力提高国考的透明度，包括在网上发布面试入围者的notification(通告)，还有建立申考者的credit record(信用档案)。
