A Beijing subway line was temporarily halted after a person "jumped off the platform" at a downtown station on Monday evening, the subway operators and witnesses said.

The verified microblog of Beijing Subway said the incident happened at 5:24 p.m. at the Xuanwumen Station on Line 2. Xinhua reporters at the site said armed policemen and subway staff rushed into a train to evacuate passengers and medical staff later arrived.

The station later resumed traffic, Xinhua reporters said.
