Three people, including an infant, were hacked to death and another injured in a knife attack Tuesday in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, local police confirmed on Thursday.

The suspect, Luo, 36, killed two men aged 72 and 46, and a 6-month-old baby in Longdong Village, Xincheng county on Tuesday afternoon.

Another villager was injured before Lou was captured by villagers and handed over to the police.

An initial probe by police found that Luo often exhibited odd behavior such as talking to himself or dancing alone in the street, though he had never been treated for mental illness.

Further investigation is underway.
