The Volta Region of the Republic of Ghana and The Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China has officially established friendly regions under an agreement signed on Tuesday in Ho, capital of the Volta Region, 165 km northeast of Accra.

Hailing the occasion as a history making, the Volta Regional Minister Joseph Amenowode expressed his hope that partnership between the two regions would be expanded and deepened following the signing of the agreement.

In his reply, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Mr. Gong Jianzhong said that this was an important step forward on the history of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The two regions would play a pioneering role in exploring the potentials of bilateral cooperation at local levels with more direct participation of the two peoples, the business communities and various institutions of both countries, Gong said.
