A Chinese remake of Hollywood movie "Dangerous Liaisons" (Wei Xian Guan Xi) has began filming. The cast of the film includes Zhang Ziyi and Cecilia Cheung, who star as the film's female leads. This will be the first movie in which the two actresses star alongside one another.

A press release was held in Beijing on Monday and was attended by the major cast members. According to a report by China news.com, Zhang Ziyi said she fell in love with her role after reading the script, and even recommended that Cecilia Cheung star in the role opposite her. In the movie, the two women will wage war in an effort to win the heart of a man, portrayed by South Korean actor Jang Donggun.

The movie is loosely based on the French novel, Les Liaisons dangereuses, but the story is set in 1930s' Shanghai. South Korean director Jin-ho Hur takes the helm during the production stages with Chinese writer Yan Geling penning the script.
