    Heilongjiang Cultural Heritage

    Heilongjiang is a multi-ethnic frontier province, at the same time an immigrated province. Han Chinese account for 90% or more of the total population of Heilongjiang, whereas the minorities occupies less percentage in population, but consists of various ethnic nationalities. There are 10 worldly main ethnic minorities in Heilongjiang, which are Man, Hui, Korean, Mongolian, Daur, Oroqen, Ewenki, Kirgiz, Hezhe, Xibe. They always gained majorities’ support in their historical changes and folk customs. Among them, Man, Mongolian, Oroqen, Ewenki, Daur have rich ethnic heritages in myth. Hero poems have long been famous among the Hezhen, Oroqen and Daur nationalities, such as the "Imams Worthy" in Hezhe, the "Mo Sukun" in Oroqen and the "Wu Qin" in Daur, etc... These epic poems are valuable assets in Heilongjiang cultural heritages.

    In modern times, Heilongjiang, this multi-ethnic border province, has gradually formed a frontier, ethnic and sino-western cultural characteristics. Immigrates brought the fine Chinese traditions since the early Qing Dynasty's "Exiles" and "Xing land" , and those folk customs and Heilongjiang local cultures gradually fused. Early in the 20th century, Heilongjiang, especially Harbin, Hei River, Suifen River Port, developed into international business centers. Russia, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, France and many other Eastern and Western countries showed differently cultural characteristics in architecture, religion, culture, education, health and other aspects, which impacted with Heilongjiang local cultures and became an important part in modern civilization along Heilongjiang drainage area.

    Heilongjiang Province is rich in intangible cultural heritage resources. Some of them have influenced the literary and artistic creations in various categories, resulting in a large number of excellent works; some have been ranked into the tourism and cultural industries, creating social and economic benefits. The government of Heilongjiang Province announced the first batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage in March27th, 2007, which amounted to 57. The ones with ★ are included in the national intangible cultural heritages, which amounted to 9.
